Japanese name:令和8年度 笠神社秋季例大祭
📅 Sat, Oct 10, 2026 - Sun, Oct 11, 2026
About this event
The "Kasa Shrine Autumn Grand Festival", a historic and traditional festival that adds vibrant color to autumn in Kasaoka, will be held in Reiwa 8 (2026). Centered around Kasa Shrine, enshrined at the foot of Mt. Ojin, the town of Kasaoka will be wrapped in passion and vitality for two special days. The greatest highlight is the portable shrine (mikoshi) departure around 19:00 on Sunday, October 11, where heroic adult mikoshi from six towns in the Kasaoka district gather on Kencho-dori Avenue in front of Kasaoka Station. The procession moving with powerful chants is truly spectacular. Mikoshi in the Kasaoka area have a rare hexagonal body wrapped with hemp rope, which is unusual even nationwide. You can compare up close the appearance and decorations of the mikoshi, which differ slightly depending on each town. You can experience on site both the lively daytime atmosphere and the fantastical energy of the night. Yoimiya (eve festival) is on Saturday, October 10, 2026, and the Miyairi (entry into the shrine) is on Sunday, October 11, 2026. On Sunday, October 11, the mikoshi departure starts around 19:00, and after parading along Kencho-dori Avenue, they sequentially make their entry (Miyairi) into Kasa Shrine. The times may change depending on the progress of the day. For visitors arriving by car, the "Kasaoka Elementary School Grounds" can be used as a temporary free parking lot. Available hours are from 12:00 to 24:00 on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11, 2026.
