About this event
Designated as a Prefectural Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, this is one of the three major festivals in the prefecture, boasting a 950-year tradition as a yosemiya festival. From eight shrines in the town, processions of portable shrines and drums gather at Soja Shrine in Kamoichiba, surrounded by a forest of cedar and cypress trees said to be over 500 years old, where ancient and elegant Shinto rituals unfold. On the day, flutes and drums resound throughout the town, enveloping the area entirely in a festive atmosphere. This festival is an event packed with highlights where local history and tradition come alive.
