About this event
'Urasaki Kagura' was designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Onomichi City in 2025. The Urasaki district of Onomichi City has a very active Kagura (Ise Kagura) tradition, with Kagura troupes existing in each neighborhood of the town. Entering October, each district dedicates Kagura almost every week, and among them, the largest in scale is the Kagura at Sumiyoshi Shrine. Kagura is dedicated until late at night, featuring battle scenes with giant serpents, graceful dances, and humorous performances where the entire venue unites in excitement.
