MEGAHIRA EXTREME 500

About this event

Set at Megahira Ski Resort in Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, this is an extreme hill climb race charging up and down an elevation difference of about 500 meters. Conquering the steep slope of about 2.3 km total length on foot provides an exceptional sense of accomplishment, and challengers testing their summer limits are welcome. Regardless of racing experience, everyone from first-time participants to serious athletes can take on the challenge tailored to their own goals. The course maximizes the ski resort's slope layout, with its primary appeal being the intense steep climb condensed into a short distance. It offers a new challenge arena for trail runners, mountaineering enthusiasts, and runners who regularly train on hills from across the country. Heart rates skyrocket in a short time, rewarding runners with stunning panoramic views visible only to those who push step by step. Focusing on "climbing" rather than distance, this event also aims to promote sports tourism leveraging the region's rich natural resources. Three events are offered: Extreme, Extreme Double, and Kids Extreme, allowing participants to choose according to their skill level. Course supervision is handled by Toru Higashi, a former Japan national skyrunning representative.
