Signaling the end of summer in Shimonoseki, 'Bakan Matsuri 2026' is a lively summer festival with full citizen participation. With Kaikyo Yume Square as the main venue, numerous night stalls line the streets from JR Shimonoseki Station to the Karato area. The entire city is filled with energy under the theme of song and dance, with the grand finale of the Heike Dance featuring approximately 2,000 dancers on the final day and the reenactment of the Joseon Tongsinsa procession being spectacular highlights. As a summer tradition of Shimonoseki, this festival entertains not only local residents but also many visitors.
