Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Shimonoseki Base Autumn Festa 2026

On Sunday, October 11, 2026, the 'Shimonoseki Base Autumn Festa 2026' will be held at the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Shimonoseki Base located in Nagatamotomachi, Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. The base will be open to the public, and annually features public tours of JMSDF vessels such as minesweepers as well as trial voyages. Inside the base, activities such as trial cruises, working vehicle exhibits, historical museum visits, and outdoor stalls are scheduled. Admission is free, and no advance application is required. Typical annual attractions include rubber boat trial cruises, displays of Japan Ground Self-Defense Force vehicles, fire engines, and police patrol cars, world supercar exhibits, PR booths, food trucks, SDF merchandise sales, medaka fish scooping, and bouncy ball scooping. Baggage inspections may be conducted upon entry. The event may be cancelled or modified depending on weather conditions.
