About this event
Held in Suo-Oshima Town, Yamaguchi Prefecture, the "Suo-Oshima Origin Tour" is a 2-day, 1-night program aimed at people considering relocation or entering agriculture. On the island known as a mikan (mandarin orange) production center, participants can experience harvesting mikan and preparing chagayu (tea-infused rice porridge), a local specialty of Suo-Oshima Town. In addition, participants can feel the appeal of the island's agriculture firsthand through discussions with trainees from the Suo-Oshima Mikan College and on-site farm inspections with veteran and newly established farmers. An evening information exchange gathering over local specialties with mikan farmers and local residents is also scheduled, providing an ideal opportunity to resolve questions and concerns about island life and farming. Furthermore, viewings of trial-stay housing, meet-and-greets with residents who have already relocated, and relocation/farming consultation sessions will be offered to help participants visualize life after moving. This tour provides practical information and hands-on experiences for starting a new life on Suo-Oshima.
