16th Iya Fusuma Karakuri Puppet Performance

The 16th Iya Fusuma Karakuri, held in Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture, is a precious traditional performing art handed down in the Iya region. Cherished from the Meiji era to the early Showa period as a prayer for bountiful harvests, this performing art once died out, but has been revived and preserved by the local preservation society. During the performance, along with vivid transformations of mechanical sliding screen paintings (karakuri fusuma-e), local folk songs and dances passed down in Iya will also be presented, offering a nostalgic and heartwarming experience. Surrounded by rich nature, visitors can experience the traditional culture unique to Iya. Admission is free.
