Japanese name:洞爺湖の紅葉
📅 Sat, Oct 10, 2026 - Sun, Nov 8, 2026
About this event
The autumn foliage at Lake Toya is at its best in late October, when the broadleaf trees along the lakeside turn vibrant colors. In particular, the Takarada Nature Trail along Lake Toya is highly recommended, allowing you to stroll through groves of trees such as Japanese maple and ginkgo dyed in red and yellow. While viewing the autumn leaves of Nakajima floating on the lake, you can relax and fully enjoy the great nature of autumn. From the Silo Observatory on the opposite shore of the hot spring town, you can overlook the autumn foliage of Lake Toya as a whole and enjoy a beautiful and magnificent view. The best viewing time is expected to be from mid-October to early November, and you can enjoy foliage types such as rowan (mountain ash), Japanese maple, ginkgo, and cherry blossom. Recommended viewing spots include the Takarada Nature Trail, Silo Observatory, and Usuzan Ropeway.
