Uga Shrine Autumn Grand Festival (Doburoku Serving)
Japanese name:宇賀神社秋大祭(どぶろくふるまい)
📅 Sat, Oct 17, 2026 - Sun, Oct 18, 2026
About this event
This is an autumn grand festival held annually at Uga Shrine in Mitoyo City. The greatest feature of this festival is that unrefined sake (doburoku), brewed using techniques handed down through generations at Uga Shrine—the only shrine in Shikoku permitted to brew doburoku—is served as sacred sake (omiki) to general worshippers. The set of ancient brewing tools used is designated as a Prefectural Cultural Property, allowing visitors to sense history and tradition. Praying for an abundant autumn harvest, this festival is an important annual event for local residents and offers visitors a special experience.
