Autumn Foliage at Omogo Gorge
Japanese name:面河渓の紅葉
📅 Wed, Oct 21, 2026 - Tue, Nov 10, 2026
About this event
Located in Kumakogen Town, Ehime Prefecture, Omogo Gorge is known as one of the finest scenic spots in western Japan, where you can enjoy scenery of mountain streams and unusually shaped rocks that resemble works of natural art. In autumn, the gorge sprawling at the southern base of Mount Ishizuchi is colored with beautiful autumn foliage. The typical best viewing period is from late October to early November, offering an exceptional contrast between the highly transparent clear stream and vibrant autumn leaves. From the walking trail, you can take in magnificent views composed of red and yellow autumn leaves and water clear enough to see the riverbed. With many varieties of trees that change color, you can enjoy different expressions of autumn leaves at each spot. In particular, Toragataki Falls, where you can see the waterfall together with autumn leaves, is a recommended viewpoint. Admission is free.
