About this event

"Dechikonka 2026," the town's largest annual festival held in Kihoku Town, Ehime Prefecture, is packed with events to engage all five senses across two days. On the first day, Saturday, October 10, the eve festival features powerful Japanese taiko drumming performances by Kihoku Town's "Taiko Shudan Kai," Tokyo's "Taiko Shudan Amanojaku," and Uwajima City's "Ibuki Ryushin Taiko Hozonkai." In addition, a special live concert by enka singer Aimi Tanaka is scheduled, allowing visitors to enjoy heartfelt singing alongside the murmur of the river. On the second day, Sunday, October 11, the "Jumbo Kiji Nabe" (giant pheasant hot pot) made with local specialty pheasant meat will be served free of charge to approximately 2,500 people, and the "Bikkuri Market" will bring together about 100 vendor groups from inside and outside the prefecture. Other activities include "Ayu and Amago Catching" fun for both children and adults, as well as an exciting "Ehime Pro-Wrestling" show. The special stage will remain lively all day with performances by various organizations and live shows by special guests. Participatory programs are plentiful, including an opening dance, mochimaki (rice cake scatter), and a fun raffle. Furthermore, many attractions for children are prepared, such as JSDF VR experiences and vehicle exhibitions, an earthquake simulation vehicle, police motorcycle and patrol car ride experiences, a petting zoo, and Halloween craft workshops. The Kihoku Art Exhibition and Go tournament will also be held, providing opportunities to experience local culture. Named after the Kihoku dialect phrase "Dechikonka" meaning "Won't you come out?", please come and experience the charms of Kihoku Town.
