Shimanto Kuroson Village Festival 2026

Held at Kuroson Shinsui Park in Shimanto City, Kochi Prefecture, the "Shimanto Kuroson Village Festival 2026" is an event where you can fully enjoy the Kuroson Gorge in autumn. A free bus tour (first 20 participants) to Kanden Bridge, a famous spot for autumn foliage, will operate, allowing visitors to enjoy the beautiful fall colors. In addition, visitors can enjoy autumn gourmet dishes such as whole simmered Japanese mitten crab (tsugani) caught in the Kuroson River, salt-grilled sweetfish (ayu), sekihan (red bean rice), bara-zushi, and tonjiru (pork miso soup), as well as vendor booths from along the Shimanto River basin and local product stalls selling vegetables grown in Nishitosa, yuzu citrus, woodwork crafts, and charcoal. Stage events will feature greetings from the Kuroson Village representative, Japanese taiko drumming by Nishitosa Minori Taiko, guitar performance by singer-songwriter Kenji Hirano, juggling performance by street performer Kenichi Matsubagawa, and a juggling workshop for children. Furthermore, there will be workshops for handmade original chopstick-making and Christmas wreaths using forest materials, a shooting gallery using bamboo water guns/popguns, and a rock-paper-scissors tournament to conclude the festival. Free shuttle buses to the venue will also be running, making it easy to visit.
