To mark the 11th anniversary of the Ongagawa Pumping Station being inscribed as a World Heritage site under "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution," Nakama City will host the "Nakama Heritage Fest 2026." This festival is an event where visitors can gain deep knowledge about the charms of modern industrial heritage, including the Ongagawa Pumping Station, through special experiences. By offering special tours of areas usually closed to the public and sharing untold stories associated with the land, it provides an opportunity to discover new appeals of Nakama City. A wide range of programs is prepared, including the World Heritage Clean Project, World Heritage & Kawachi Reservoir sightseeing bus tour, exclusive public viewing of the Ongagawa Pumping Station, a monitor tour combining the exclusive viewing of the World Heritage "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution" Ongagawa Pumping Station with a Chikutetsu train driving experience, the Otsuji and Iwasaki Coal Mine exploration footpaths, and the World Heritage & Nogata retro architecture special tour footpath. Through these events, participants can connect with historical heritage and reaffirm its value.
