Japanese name:第50回春日奴国あんどん祭り
📅 Sat, Oct 3, 2026 - Sun, Oct 4, 2026
About this event
The "50th Kasuga Nakoku Lantern Festival," held at Prefectural Kasuga Park on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, 2026, marks the commemorative 50th edition of Kasuga City's citizen festival that began in 1977. Approximately 5,000 lanterns made of bamboo and paper will illuminate the venue, creating a magical evening atmosphere. On October 3, the festival will be held from 1:00 PM to 8:30 PM, featuring a bamboo lantern making workshop (participation fee: 500 yen, first 300 lanterns), opening ceremony, and lighting ceremony. On October 4, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, visitors can enjoy a children's plaza, commerce and industry association booths, citizen stalls, and a festival game plaza. In addition, as a 50th-anniversary project, "Minna DE Odoro" (Let's Dance Together) will be held starting at 5:30 PM, featuring the Kasuga City version of Bon Dance and parades. The lantern lighting will take place after sunset around 6:00 PM on both days. Because there is no festival-specific parking lot at the venue, the use of public transportation is recommended. Stalls operated by local citizens and food trucks offering gourmet food are also scheduled, allowing you to fully enjoy the festival atmosphere all day long from afternoon to evening.
