About this event
Held at the Kyushu National Museum, "Ceramics Workshop Vol. 7: Stripes and Waves - Challenging Kotai Marbled Clay!" is a hands-on workshop where participants can experience "kotai" (marbled clay), a ceramic decoration technique. While observing ceramics decorated with various techniques displayed in the exhibition rooms and listening to explanations from researchers, participants will create an accessory tray featuring distinctive "striped" and "wavy" patterns using two colors of clay under the instructor's guidance. The completed works will be fired at the museum at a later date. This workshop is designed for both children and adults to enjoy; specifically, the "Kids Course" is for 1st to 4th grade elementary school students (accompanied by a guardian), and the "General Course" is for 5th grade elementary school students and older (elementary school students must be accompanied by a guardian). It offers a precious opportunity to try making wondrous ceramic patterns and craft your very own original work.
