Held in Shime Town, Fukuoka Prefecture, the "Iwasaki Shrine Kendo Tournament" is a competition aimed at improving kendo techniques and nurturing healthy minds and bodies. Led primarily by the Kendo Section of the Shime Town Sports Association, community-rooted kendo activities have been carried out for many years. Practice takes place at the dojo within the grounds of Iwasaki Shrine, reflecting a tournament steeped in history and tradition. The purpose of this tournament is to foster courtesy, perseverance, courage, loyalty, and sincerity through kendo, serving as a venue where many kendo enthusiasts from children to adults participate to showcase the results of their daily training. It provides a valuable opportunity to compete in kendo techniques alongside peers, seniors, and juniors, deepening friendships and bonds. The tournament aims to nurture as many swordsmen as possible who can feel and share the joy of winning.
