2026 Cape Hado Fireworks Festival
Japanese name:令和8年波戸岬花火大会
📅 Sat, Aug 29, 2026
About this event
The '2026 Cape Hado Fireworks Festival' will be held at Cape Hado, considered the site of the oldest recorded fireworks display in literature. Nagoya Castle was built here by Toyotomi Hideyoshi as a base for expeditions to Korea, and renowned warlords such as Tokugawa Ieyasu and Date Masamune set up camps in the area surrounding Nagoya Castle, making it the center of Japan at that time; reflecting upon this era, you can experience fireworks that people of that period might have seen. The launch of a 2-shaku (approx. 60 cm) shell, one of the largest in Saga Prefecture, is also scheduled, illuminating Cape Hado with historical radiance and stirring light. Festival food stalls start at 17:00, and fireworks begin launching at 20:00. In case of rain, only the fireworks will be postponed to August 31.
