Japanese name:呼子くんち
📅 Sat, Oct 17, 2026 - Sun, Oct 18, 2026
About this event
In Yobuko-cho, Karatsu City, which prospered through whaling during the Edo period, the autumn festival of Hachiman Shrine, "Yobuko Kunchi," will be held. The main highlight of this festival is the parade of floats shaped like a mother and child whale winding through the town. Accompanied by spirited shouts of "Yoiyasa," the heroic scene captivates visitors. During Yoiyama (the eve of the festival), the Yobuko Night Marche will also be held concurrently, further enlivening the festival atmosphere. Come and experience Yobuko's autumn tradition where the history and tradition of whaling are alive and well.
