Takeo no Araodori & Traditional Performing Arts of Yamauchi, Higashikawatabori, and Tachibana

In Takeo City, traditional local performing arts are dedicated at various locations through late September. The "Takeo no Araodori," designated as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, has been handed down in the three districts of Takase, Utode, and Nakano, and is dedicated at Matsuo Shrine, Shoichi Shrine, and Nakano Iwai Hachiman Jingu, respectively. In Yamauchi-cho, starting with the Mimasaka Araodori, furyu dances from Miyano, Toriumi, and Tatenokawachi are scheduled to be dedicated at Toriumi Tenmangu, Mimasaka Chinju Gongensha, Kurokami Shrine, and other sites. In Higashikawatabori-cho, Hakamano Menfuryu will be dedicated at Kifune Shrine, and in Tachibana-cho, Minamikatajiro Furyu and Dainichi no Kawa Furyu will be dedicated at Shiomi Shrine. These traditional performing arts are conducted as sacred Shinto rituals dedicated to the local guardian deities, transmitting culture deeply rooted in the community. In case of rain, the venues may change to indoor locations such as community centers, but visitors should note that because these are sacred rituals, schedule adjustments or special accommodations for tourists may be difficult. When watching, please be considerate so as not to obstruct the dedications and observe with the understanding that this is a sacred setting.
