About this event
Ogi City is home to a concentration of over 20 yokan (sweet bean jelly) shops, boasting the highest number of yokan shops in a single area in Japan. For this event, participants check in at Yumeplat Ogi or Ogi Station and then stroll around to visit various yokan shops. Collect stamps from the yokan shops on your stamp rally card as you head toward the goal, where you can win wonderful prizes in the "Fun Raffle" held at Yumeplat Ogi. Yokan making in Ogi City flourished after sugar began entering from abroad via the Nagasaki Kaido (Sugar Road) during the national isolation period of the Edo era. In 2020, it was recognized as a Japan Heritage component cultural property under "The Sugar Road: The Nagasaki Kaido that Spread Sugar Culture." This event is an ideal opportunity to carefully compare the tastes of yokan from various shops.
