Lord Naritomi Hyogo Shigeyasu Period Festival & Dedication Yabusame

About this event

The "Jidai Matsuri" (Historical Period Festival) has been held since 2009 to commemorate the 450th anniversary of the birth of Lord Naritomi Hyogo Shigeyasu and the 350th anniversary of the passing of the enshrined deity, Lord Nabeshima Naohiro. Dedicated yabusame (horseback archery) is performed to honor the virtues of Lord Naritomi Hyogo Shigeyasu, who was a brave and daring Hizen samurai as well as a beloved civil administrator. On the day of the event, in addition to the thrilling dedicated yabusame performance, a variety of enjoyable programs are prepared, including entertainment on a special dedication stage, sales of local specialty goods, and a gorgeous samurai procession. It is an event where visitors can experience history and culture.
