About this event
An autumn annual festival in Sasebo held every year from November 1 to November 3. On the first day, the Goshinko procession departs from Kameyama Hachimangu Shrine—featuring three portable shrines (mikoshi), lions, the chief priest riding a sacred horse, and dedicated dances performed by dancing neighborhood groups (odori-cho)—parading along Route 204 and through the Yon-ga-cho and San-ga-cho arcades to Matsuura Park, where a temporary resting place (otabisho) is set up. On the final day, the 'O-nobori' procession proceeds from the Matsuura Park resting place back to Kameyama Hachimangu along the reverse route of the first day. This festival provides a valuable opportunity to experience the tradition and vitality of Sasebo firsthand.
