Matsuura Suigun Navy Festival

Matsuura City is the site where the Mongol Invasions (Bun'ei and Koan campaigns) ended, and this festival honors the Matsuura Clan who defended the homeland during these invasions. In this festival with full citizen participation, parades featuring floats that replicate trade ships from the era of the Matsuura Clan's navy and samurai processions take place. As Matsuura's largest event, it feels like witnessing a historical picture scroll of Matsuura. A wide variety of events are scheduled, including diverse stage events, citizen dance parades, free distribution of Matsuura hot pot, and local specialty sales exhibitions. On the stage, various performances including music, dance, marching bands, sports, and manzai comedy will be presented.
