Special Exhibition: Tsushima Society in the Jomon Period
Japanese name:特別展 縄文時代の対馬社会
📅 Sat, Oct 3, 2026 - Sun, Dec 6, 2026
About this event
This exhibition is held to commemorate the designation of the Koshitaka Site, located in Kamiagata-cho Koshitaka and one of the representative Jomon period archaeological sites in Tsushima, as a National Historic Site on March 10, 2025 (Reiwa 7). Many Jomon period sites on Tsushima show evidence of active exchanges outside the island. Following the Historic Site designation of the Koshitaka Site, which retains traces of close exchanges with the Korean Peninsula, this exhibition focuses on the aspects of Tsushima's foreign interactions during the Jomon period. This is the first exhibition to gather excavated artifacts together to provide a comprehensive overview. Excavated artifacts from representative sites distributed across the island, including the Koshitaka Site, are selected from the perspectives of exchange and trade to highlight the characteristics of the era.
