Desert Island Hide-and-Seek 2026

About this event

Set on Tsumagashima Island in Iki City, Nagasaki Prefecture, 'Desert Island Hide-and-Seek 2026' will be held with 100 adults competing in earnest. This event is a full-scale hide-and-seek game for adults aiming to stay hidden on an uninhabited island for 2 hours. Participants are split into 10 seekers (oni) and 90 hiders. In addition to staying hidden from the seekers, covert actions such as procuring food and obtaining information at supply points are also considered essential. Awards will be given to those who stay hidden until the very end, seekers who find many participants, as well as point-based awards that account for the duration hidden and contributions made after turning into a seeker. Hiding by any means is permitted, including blending into tall grass or digging into the dirt, allowing participants to experience such intense suspense that even the sound of breathing could be fatal. After the hide-and-seek game concludes, all participants will hold an uninhabited island BBQ to reward their efforts. Furthermore, participants can fully enjoy a luxurious time on the desert island with drum-can baths, desert island camping, and an experience of crafting a raft the next morning to escape from the uninhabited island. Held for the 3rd time, this event is co-hosted by the Japan Hide-and-Seek Association and JobLive Inc. with the goal of 'increasing adults who play with all their might.' The setting, Tsumagashima, is a nature-rich uninhabited island floating near Iki Island featuring diverse natural environments such as primeval forests, wetlands, beaches, and sheer sea cliffs. Remaining wells and building ruins that show traces of human habitation until 2002 still exist, providing an opportunity to discover new charm in a location rarely visited even on a trip to Iki.
