Said to have originated from bartering, the Katsumoto Morning Market Festival is renowned for its freshness and affordable prices. Freshly harvested marine and mountain delicacies line the Katsumoto Port Kurose Shopping Street Morning Market Street, offering processed agricultural products, processed marine goods, and fresh fish at special bargain prices. Drawing lively crowds of locals and tourists, this festival also features sister-city exchanges with Suwa City, Nagano Prefecture. Suwa City sets up sales booths offering specialties such as apples and soba noodles, which are so popular and rare that they quickly sell out. The event takes place at the Katsumoto-ura Municipal Kurose Parking Lot, drawing many visitors every year. Participation is free, and the venue is accessible by public transportation. Historic sites such as Kojima Shrine and Tsukiyomi Shrine, as well as dining spots like Uni-meshi Shokudo Harahoge, are scattered nearby and can be enjoyed together.
