About this event

The Miiraku Manyo Festival is a festival themed around the Manyoshu and Kentoshi (Japanese envoys to Tang China), colored with the culture and performing arts of the Heian period. In Miiraku (Mimiraku no Shima), a place associated with the envoys to Tang China, visitors can feel the spirit of Japanese harmony while experiencing the Manyo atmosphere. Experiences connecting with history and culture are offered, such as reciting poems from the Manyoshu while wearing Manyo period costumes, and experiencing the pressing of camellia oil, which was brought back as a tribute to Tang China by the envoys. In addition, tours visiting Japan Heritage cultural properties (Mimiraku no Shima, Myojoin, Tomoduna Stone, and Daihoji Temple) are also held, providing an opportunity to deeply learn about the local history and culture.
