Fukue Minato Festival
Japanese name:福江みなとまつり
📅 Sat, Sep 26, 2026 - Sun, Sep 27, 2026
About this event
This is a major festival held in Fukue, the central area of the Goto Islands. One of the highlights of the festival is the giant Nebuta floats. The sight of heroic Nebuta floats themed around Goto's history and folklore, such as the Japanese envoys to Tang China and Wako pirates, parading through town is truly powerful. A variety of events are held, including Enjo Taiko drumming and a fireworks display, bustling with many visitors every year. Centered around the main shopping arcade, numerous events are planned, including parades by local nursery, elementary, and junior high school students. In particular, the Nebuta, a unique fire festival in the westernmost part of Japan, is magnificent to see. On the final day of the festival, fireworks will be launched from Fukue Port, vividly illuminating the autumn night sky of Goto City.
