Nakayama Rice Growing: Rice Harvesting Edition

Held in the Nakayama district of Seii-cho, Saikai City, Nagasaki Prefecture, "Nakayama Rice Growing: Rice Harvesting Edition" is a hands-on event where participants harvest rice they helped grow amidst the traditional satoyama countryside landscape of Nakayama. In a community where fewer people engage in rice farming due to an aging population, the event is held to help children and younger generations appreciate the appeal of agriculture and natural rhythms. Participants can get their hands dirty and experience the joy of making delicious rice together. Following the harvesting activity, a communal lunch is included where participants cook and eat countryside dishes using the harvested rice. Adult participants also receive a 1-kilogram souvenir pack of freshly harvested new rice. It is a precious opportunity to experience the joy of harvesting rice you planted and to savor the lovingly grown rice of the Nakayama district.
