About this event

Nita Pass in Unzen City, Nagasaki Prefecture, is a scenic spot known for its beautiful autumn foliage in fall. The best viewing time is typically from mid-October to early November, offering a magical landscape of mountains dyed in reds and yellows. A ropeway runs from Nita Pass toward the summit of Mt. Myoken, allowing visitors to enjoy a panoramic view of the autumn leaves spreading below during an aerial walk. In addition, from the Nita Pass Second Observation Deck, visitors can view Mt. Heisei Shinzan up close, captivated by the contrast between the autumn colors and grand nature. The drive along the skyline is also pleasant, weaving through cedar and cypress forests with beautiful views of the Ariake Sea and Tachibana Bay, as well as panoramic views of the Kuju Mountain Range. Showing different natural faces across the four seasons—such as azaleas in spring and fresh greenery in summer—Nita Pass is one of the highlights of sightseeing in Unzen.
