Tsugu mina perhonen

An exhibition exploring the work of mina perhonen, a fashion and textile brand that celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2025, through the keyword 'Tsugu' (connecting/inheriting) will be held at the Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto. The craftsmanship of mina perhonen begins with textile pattern designs created by hand by designers. Through dialogue, trial and error, and ingenuity with craftspeople who are also skilled technicians, these designs have materialized into cloth, from cloth into clothing, and into various interior products. This exhibition showcases their activities in creating unique products while exploring how to exist as a brand that will endure 100 years into the future, through rare original drawings and textiles, as well as looks into embroidery, weaving, and printing workshops. It is an exhibition where you can experience mina perhonen's approach to craftsmanship, pursuing universal value unaffected by fleeting trends.
