Hikawa Summer Festival
Japanese name:氷川夏祭り
📅 Wed, Sep 23, 2026
About this event
On September 23, 2026 (Autumnal Equinox Day), the 'Hikawa Summer Festival' will be held at the grounds of Hikawa Junior High School (jointly operated by Hikawa Town and Yatsushiro City Junior High School Union) in Kumamoto Prefecture. This festival was realized out of the desire to bring back the summer that was cancelled due to an earthquake and to bring smiles to children. The event kicks off with a Japanese taekwondo/wadaiko drumming performance by 'KAGAYAKI HIKARI', followed by a stage where Rakkyo Ide and Ayaka Fuchigami share their past experiences, a special live show by Shiki Kanata MASA, and a charity impersonation live performance by Ryuji Aoki. Furthermore, a Ramune fast-drinking competition, soccer recreation by athlete Katsunari Mizumoto, an appearance by the ONE PIECE cosplay performance team 'Guradan', a grand bingo lottery, and a finale with a powerful fire performance will be held. Food trucks and tent stalls will also be present, providing a full day of entertainment. The venue is Hikawa Municipal Hikawa Junior High School, running from 16:30 to 20:30. Admission is free, but food and drinks are for a fee. As parking is limited, visitors are encouraged to arrive on foot.
