Japanese name:第5回Kumagawa Revival Trail
📅 Sat, Nov 14, 2026 - Sun, Nov 15, 2026
About this event
This is a trail running competition aimed at reconstruction from the heavy rain disaster of July 2020. The event aims to witness the beginning and end of the Kuma River from its source to its river mouth, calling for nationwide participation and support for the disaster-affected areas. Three categories are offered: the Kumagawa Course of approx. 167 km, the Kawabegawa Course of approx. 102 km, and the Kumagawa Course Pacer of approx. 69 km. Qualification requirements are set for each course, with longer courses specifically requiring past finisher records in trail running competitions. The event takes place in Yatsushiro City, Itsuki Village, Yamae Village, Kuma Village, and Mizukami Village in Kumamoto Prefecture. Participants will receive participation gifts such as local specialties and sponsoring companies' products. Top male and female finishers in each category will receive awards; male and female champions of the Kumagawa Course will receive an invitation slot for the next edition, and top 10 male and female finishers will receive priority entry slots. The organizers are seeking nature-loving participants who can commit to staying on the trail even during bad weather.
