About this event

Held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at the Stone Community Center Yamanami in Kuma Village, Kuma District, Kumamoto Prefecture, the "2nd Isshochi Onsen Hot Spring Light & Kuma Village Duck Race" is a unique event where rubber ducks ride the river current toward the finish line, with luck and the water flow holding the keys to victory. Participants release purchased small plastic ducks all at once into the river and compete for speed. Easily enjoyed by both children and adults, this race brings excitement as you cheer on your duck purchased for an entry fee of 100 yen per duck. Registration is scheduled from 14:00 to 16:00, with the race start scheduled for 16:30; the event will be canceled in case of stormy weather. On the same day, the "Hot Spring Light Night Market" featuring popular food trucks and stalls will also be held until 20:00, allowing visitors to fully enjoy walking around and sampling food. In addition, stage events featuring local groups and guests are planned, creating a lively atmosphere. As a special project, "Make a Glowing Deco Fan!"—where participants apply colorful stickers onto transparent uchiwa fans—will be held for an entry fee of 1,000 yen, limited to the first 100 participants. Prize items include white bread from Kyusendo Hinata and replica uniforms of the SoftBank Hawks, allowing visitors to enjoy the long autumn night enveloped in the murmur of the river and soft lights.
