Japanese name:くまろんフェア2026
📅 Sun, Sep 20, 2026 - Tue, Oct 20, 2026
About this event
In the Hitoyoshi Kuma region of Kumamoto Prefecture, 'Kumaron Fair 2026' will be held from Sunday, September 20 to Tuesday, October 20, 2026. This event introduces local specialty items that lavishly use 'Kuma-guri,' chestnuts grown in Hitoyoshi Kuma, with 27 regional shops offering breads and sweets made with Kuma chestnuts. Kuma chestnuts, which enjoy a particularly strong reputation for taste among domestic Japanese chestnuts, are premium items used by major confectionery manufacturers and upscale mont blanc specialty shops. Visitors can taste a variety of chestnut sweets crafted with the unique style of each shop, ranging from Western confectionery such as mont blanc, tarts, and cream puffs, to Japanese sweets like dorayaki, castella, and monaka, as well as bread rolls, danishes, soft serve ice cream, and parfaits. A stamp rally will also be conducted during the event period, where purchasing eligible items for 500 yen or more earns 1 stamp per shop. By collecting 3 or more stamps and applying, 60 people will win gift certificates in a drawing. As the Autumn 33 Kannon Pilgrimage Gokaicho and the Aoi Aso Shrine Grand Autumn Festival are held during the same period, you can thoroughly enjoy autumn in Hitoyoshi Kuma while tasting seasonal Kuma chestnuts.
