Held every year on November 3 (Culture Day) in Shonai Town, Yufu City, known as the home of kagura, the "Shonai Kagura Festival & Yufu City Shonai Town Hometown Festival" is a day where community-rooted traditional culture and a vibrant festival merge. In the Shonai Kagura Festival, diverse kagura groups—including town kagura troupes carrying on Shonai Kagura, as well as local preschoolers and high school students—gather in one place, dedicating kagura performances continuously from morning to evening. Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of kagura all day long. At the concurrently held Yufu City Shonai Town Hometown Festival, corners featuring exhibitions and sales of local specialty goods as well as hometown flavors are set up, allowing you to fully appreciate the region's charms. Uniting traditional performing arts with a community festival, this event delivers heartwarming emotions and lively excitement to visitors through culture and food.
