About this event
This is an approximately 1-hour cruise circling Himeshima Island, departing from Himeshima Port on the Himeshima municipal ferry "Himeshima Maru." While listening to explanations by geo-guides from the Oita Himeshima Geopark, passengers can learn about the topography, geology, and origins of Himeshima's land. At Kannonzaki, a nationally designated Natural Monument known as the "Himeshima Obsidian Source," visitors can view the scenic landscape of Sennindo Hall standing atop an obsidian cliff. Furthermore, the cliff where the Himeshima Lighthouse stands at the easternmost point of Himeshima is packed with highlights, such as rugged rock surfaces formed by lava and a cave containing the "Amida Oysters," one of the Seven Wonders of Himeshima.
