Marusho Construction Presents 49th Obi Castle Town Festival

Held every autumn in the Obi Castle Town, a nationally designated Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings in Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture, the 49th Obi Castle Town Festival is an autumn tradition representing Miyazaki that blends history and culture. It will take place over two days on Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18, 2026. On the first day, Saturday the 17th, the stage in front of the Ote-mon Gate will feature a performance by the Nichinan Taiko troupe 'Sora', a showcase by the Nichinan City Taihei Odori 'Honmachi-gumi Preservation Society', a performance by the Obi Junior High School Brass Band, a Miyazaki-ken dog dance show, traditional performing arts past and present, an Olle Nichinan promotional talk show, guest introductions, a dance contest presented by Marusho Construction, and the Utauma Singing Grand Prix. Furthermore, SEAMO will appear as a special live guest to energize the venue. On the second day, Sunday the 18th, the Historical Picture Scroll Parade featuring samurai commanders, female warriors, and Miss Princess will add color to the castle town scenery. Stage events on the 17th will proceed rain or shine, but may be canceled in the event of severe weather such as typhoons. Please note that the parade on the 18th will be canceled in case of rain.
