About this event
To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the town's municipal administration, Takanabe Town will hold a history symposium focusing on Masaichiro Kakihara, a prominent figure from Takanabe Town. This symposium will be held following a series of three pre-event lectures. In the pre-events, President Ishikawa of the Takanabe Historical Association will serve as the lecturer, exploring Kakihara's personality and achievements with sessions titled "Growing Up Watching His Father Shoichi's Back" (August 22), "The Life of Masaichiro Kakihara" (September 26), and "People Raised by Masaichiro Kakihara and Anecdotes" (October 17). Each lecture will be held from 13:30 in the workroom of Takashin Hall, with free admission. In the main symposium, it is expected that Masaichiro Kakihara's diverse achievements will be deeply explored—particularly his contributions to the development of industry, welfare, and culture, such as investing personal funds to build and donate a library during his tenure as mayor of Takanabe Town, achieving the merger of Takanabe Town and Uwae Village, attracting Minami Kyushu Chemical Co., Ltd. and Takara Shuzo Co., Ltd., establishing the prefecture's first nursing home, and founding the Ishii Memorial Yuai-sha. This symposium will be a valuable opportunity to rediscover Takanabe Town's history and cultural heritage and deepen understanding of the region.
