World of Contemporary Nishiki-e: Hokuto Nanshu Exhibition (Tentative Title)

This is an exhibition by Hokuto Nanshu, a contemporary nishiki-e (polychrome woodblock print) artist from Kagoshima City currently residing in Kirishima City. Nishiki-e works themed around the Seinan Rebellion will be exhibited. The exhibition is scheduled to be held at the Makurazaki Nanmeikan Cultural Resource Center. Visitors can experience a world of new expressions using traditional techniques through contemporary nishiki-e. In particular, the collection of works themed on the historical event of the Seinan Rebellion is one of the highlights, showing how the scenes and people's feelings from that era are depicted from a modern perspective. It is expected to be a great opportunity to discover the new charm of nishiki-e through the unique sensibility of Hokuto Nanshu.
