2026 Akune Midokoi Festival

Held annually in Akune City, Kagoshima Prefecture, the "Akune Midokoi Festival" will be upgraded starting in 2026 by consolidating its summer and autumn editions into autumn. "Midokoi" embodies four meanings: "beautiful" (midokoro), "delicious" (umai), "charm" (miryoku), and "highlights" (midokoro). This year's festival introduces "Unmaka Street," a new gourmet event symbolizing Akune as a "Town of Food." In addition, the annual "Midokoi Parade" and "Hanya Sou-odori" dance will take place, and on the second day of the festival, a "Fireworks Display" is scheduled to launch 10,000 fireworks synchronized with laser shows and music. As the largest festival in Akune City enjoyable for everyone from children to adults, it creates vibrant excitement spanning the end of summer into autumn.
