20th Tokara Islands Island-Hopping Marathon

About this event

The "Tokara Islands Island-Hopping Marathon" is a unique marathon tour unlike any other, utilizing village-operated regular ferry services to run across the 7 inhabited islands of Toshima Village (Tokara Islands). Stretching 130 km from north to south from Kuchinoshima to Takarajima, it boasts the longest travel distance in Japan. It is an unprecedented marathon event where you can run while feeling nature firsthand and enjoying the steep hill courses and tropical atmosphere on the islands. After the event finishes, an exchange party will be held on the finish-line island of "Takarajima," where Tokara cuisine will be served during interactions with islanders. This year marks the commemorative 20th edition of the event. As a commemorative project, designs for the marathon participation prize T-shirt are being accepted, and the selected design will be produced and distributed to marathon participants. Participant recruitment for the tournament is currently in preparation.
