This is the "Summer Vacation Special Exhibition" held at the Museum of History and Folklore in Nakatane Town, Kagoshima Prefecture. The special exhibition runs from Friday, July 24, 2026, to Monday, August 31. Opening hours are from 8:30 to 17:15. It features research exhibitions on archaeological materials and folk cultural properties that demonstrate the history that built Nakatane Town's rich indigenous culture. Inside the museum, artifacts from the "Tachikiri Ruins," where Japan's oldest living remains were discovered, are on display, allowing visitors to look back on history from the Paleolithic period to the present day. Additionally, the first floor recreates private houses from the Taisho to Showa periods, displaying farming tools and folk implements that were actually used, a sugarcane press, and the last dugout canoe of Tanegashima, offering a glimpse into the lifestyle of those days. It is a valuable opportunity to experience local history and culture during the summer vacation period.
