About this event
The "Uken Village Yakeuchi Donto Festival," held in Uken Village, Kagoshima Prefecture, is widely loved as the largest fireworks display in the Amami Islands. Approximately 3,000 fireworks will be launched over about 30 minutes at Suko Port (Yuwan, Uken Village). The festival starts at 14:00, featuring stage presentations by local children, an open-participation karaoke contest, a joint hula dance by high school students, and a singing performance by "Amagos." Afterward, fireworks will be launched starting at 19:00. The highlight is the rapid succession of underwater fireworks that can be enjoyed with great impact right near the viewing area. Furthermore, due to the terrain surrounded by mountains, the sound of the fireworks reverberates, providing an even greater sense of realism. In 2026, it is expected to be held in early November.
