Held at Okinoerabu Cultural Hall Ashibi no Sato China in China Town, Kagoshima Prefecture, the '14th Okinoerabu Folk Song Contest' is an event aimed at preserving and passing down the traditional folk songs of Okinoerabu Island. In this contest, traditional singing and performances rooted in the island are showcased, allowing visitors to feel the charm of the regional culture firsthand. Participants present the results of their daily practice, while the audience can listen to the rich, emotional melodies of island songs (shima-uta). Admission is free and anyone can easily join or attend. Through this event, you can experience the rich musical culture of Okinoerabu Island.
