Tsurui Village Furusato Festival
Japanese name:鶴居村ふるさとまつり
📅 Sat, Sep 19, 2026
About this event
Originating from the 'Industrial Festival' and 'Tancho (Red-crowned Crane) Festival,' this is the largest festival in Tsurui Village. Unique events where visitors can participate, characteristic of a thriving dairy farming region, enjoy great popularity. The 'Fast Milk Drinking Contest' and the 'Moo-Moo Contest' (cow mimicking contest) bring great excitement to the venue. In addition, dance performances and musical presentations by local elementary and junior high school students showcase the vibrant energy of the village. A parade featuring a portable shrine (mikoshi) made of hay bales is also one of the highlights. Featuring a direct-sale market of fresh Tsurui-grown vegetables, stalls with local specialties, and a well-equipped barbecue corner, it is a community-rooted festival where villagers and visitors unite to enjoy food, drinks, and events.
