The 71st Okinawa All Island Eisa Festival
Japanese name:第71回沖縄全島エイサーまつり
📅 Fri, Sep 4, 2026 - Sun, Sep 6, 2026
About this event
The 71st Okinawa All Island Eisa Festival will be held over 3 days from Friday, September 4 to Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the Okinawa City Track and Field Stadium in Koza Sports Park and around the Goya Crossroads. This festival is Okinawa's largest Eisa event, bringing together the charm of Eisa, a traditional Okinawan performing art. On the first day, Friday, September 4, "Michijune" will be held around National Route 330 and Koza Gate Street, where various youth associations and guest groups parade through the town to signal the opening of the festival. On Saturday, September 5, the "48th Okinawa City Youth Festival" will take place, featuring many performances by local Okinawa City youth associations. The final day, Sunday, September 6, is the main festival, where youth associations selected from across the prefecture gather at the Okinawa City Track and Field Stadium to deliver powerful Eisa performances. Its greatest appeal is experiencing the diversity and evolution of Eisa all at once, from the different types of drums and dance styles unique to each area to creative Eisa that leverages local individuality. The resonance of sanshin, singing, and drum rhythms, combined with dynamic bachi (drumstick) handling and gorgeous dancing, is breathtaking. At the end of the festival, the finale is celebrated with Kachashi, where the entire venue dances together as one. The lawn area around the main festival performance space is free admission, while main stand seats require paid tickets. Tickets go on sale starting July 1.
