30th Takashiho Main Street Eisa Heaven
Japanese name:第30回 高志保大通りエイサー天国
📅 Sun, Aug 23, 2026
About this event
The 30th Takashiho Odori Eisa Heaven, a regular summer event in Yomitan Village, will be held this year as a 30th anniversary celebration. Many youth associations and Eisa groups from inside and outside Yomitan Village will gather to perform powerful dances along Takashiho Main Street. The biggest highlight of this event is the powerful Eisa performance in the 'Michijune format.' Participating groups from Yomitan Village and neighboring areas will parade down Takashiho Main Street with resonating drums and rhythmic chants. Unlike Eisa performed on a fixed stage, performers are right in front of the spectators' eyes, providing an exclusive experience where you can directly feel the approaching vibrations and presence of the drums. It is a luxurious evening where you can simultaneously enjoy performances by local youth associations in Yomitan Village, children's associations, Ryukyu Kazaguruma, and youth associations from across the prefecture. Because the performance progresses across the entire street, performers pass right before the audience. You can fully experience Eisa at a distance where the deep bass of large taiko drums, the sounds of paranku hand drums, and the vocal shouts directly reach your body. The Eisa of the Yomitan Village Takashiho Youth Association is well known for its dynamic and unique choreography incorporating elements of 'Umame' (Horse Dance), a traditional art passed down in the region since pre-war times. In particular, the dance seen during the climax song 'Tosen Doi,' where a shime-daiko held high above the head is kicked up and struck with the instep/toe of the foot, is very rare even among Eisa in the prefecture and has become synonymous with this youth association. Please come to the venue and enjoy this spirited Eisa competition that heats up the summer night.
