Kumejima Livestock Market Beef Cattle Auction (November)

About this event

This event offers free observation of the beef calf auction held once every two months. Okinawa Prefecture ranks 4th nationwide in calf production, and many farmers in Kumejima engage in livestock farming. In this auction, calves around 10 months old that were born and raised here are put up for auction and purchased by cattle-fattening farmers from outside the prefecture. Most of the purchased calves are shipped nationwide as branded beef. Through the auction, visitors can catch a glimpse of the vibrancy of Kumejima's livestock industry and the process of calves growing into branded beef.
